Recently, a friend and I have stumbled upon a cute little store in Elmhurst, Queens called the Sugar Club. We looked up reviews for the store and saw that it had 3 1/2 stars out of 5. The pictures of the food looked delicious so we decided to have brunch there.

The set up of the store was a little confusing since it was a cafe/grocery store. One half of the store was set up with cute Ikea looking tables and stools and the other half had Thai snacks, desserts, and already-prepared take out food in the refrigeration section. There were two workers there who were very friendly and helped us with ordering food. 

The menu is located in front of the counter in the center of the store, is a small booklet with greatly detailed pictures of the food and drinks. We ordered a drink called the Wicked Mojito (and sadly there was no alcohol in the drink, but it was so pretty!), a small meal (that I had forgotten the name of), that had eggs and some meat, as well as the famous dessert Honey Town!

Wicked Mojito was a unique beverage. When the waitress served us our drink it was a pretty blue-purple hue, topped with mint  leaves. Once it was mixed it became a light pastel magenta color. It was a refreshing light citrus drink.

Next, was the light meal (that I had forgotten the name of) which was a sunny side up egg, ground beef, pork and cilantro served on a cute miniature pan, with a side of crust-less toasted bread all on a wooden cutting board. The waiter had given us a little basket with some Asian spices, that we sprinkled onto the food. This had satisfied our hunger and is given a good thumbs up :)


Lastly, we had the difficulty of choosing a dessert out of all the delicious looking dishes called Honey Town. It consisted of cut up blocks of toast strategically placed like the Jenga Game (lol), topped with vanilla ice cream (originally it was green tea ice cream), red bean and a wafer drizzled in chocolate syrup with whip cream on the side. The fruit was thinly sliced and some were even decorated as flowers!

Overall, the food really was a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. It was good, but you really are paying for the art. I was impressed from the amount of effort that was put into the food and the fact that it is all freshly made (the food was also reasonably priced)! I would totally come back and recommend this place to others! Next time I'm definitely getting their banana desserts and oddly flavored (Thai) Lay's chips!

ELF Haul

So after my visit at ELF I picked up a couple of things. 

Elf Moisturizing Lipstick : Cheeky
The all black packing is very sleek. I don't know if the bottom can be removed. I tried and I cant get it off. The shade of the lipstick is more of a light berry pink and it does have shimmer. I however, have very pigmented lips, so unfortunately this shade did not do much but add shine to my lips. However, for $3 I wont complain. I probably will go back and buy more in another shade.

Elf Lip Balm spf 15 :Nude
I absolutely love this lip balm. I love nude colors and this one is another great one in my collection. This nude is more of a light  brown-nude. The lip balm is also very moisturizing. For $3 you can't go wrong.

Elf Baked Bronzer : Los Cabos

I am loving this bronzer! This bronzer is perfect for that sun kissed glow. I also think its very pigmented and buildable. This was $3 as well.

Elf Baked Highlighter : Blush Gems
Again another product that I am obsessed with. The color is absolutely gorgeous and I'm sorry that my camera quality sucks. The color is more of a light pinky peach. It goes on very well and gaves off a great dewy look. This was another $3.

Baked Eye Shadow : Burnt Plum
This is such a gorgeous shade. The swatch on the left is with the white primer and the one on the right is without primer. The pigmentation is great either way. This can be used dry and wet as well. I absolutely love this color because it's something that I don't have in any of my palettes. This was $3 too.

Elf HD Lifting Concealer : Light
This concealer has been working great so far. I simply dab this under my eyes and use my fingers to blend and it seems to do the job. For $3 it is def well worth it.

Prime location. Easily accessible by various trains. Easiest way to get here is to take the N or R to NYU-8st. Once you get out of the train it literally will take you less than a minute to find the store. ANother close stop is Astor Place which can be reached via the 6 train. It can also be reached by the A, B, C, D, E, F or M train at W 4th st Washington Square. You can easily take a leisurely stroll through the park before you hit up the store. 

Products :

 Every item is swatchable! From the foundatin to the lipstick to even the brushes. You can play and test all the products and see how you like it before you purchase it. Major Pro!!! You can spend hours just swatching the items and figuring out if it's something you really need. 

Products : 

They have a ton of products that you normally you can find online. They have everything you can think of from lipstick to blushes to eye shadows to nail polishes. I went on a Saturday and everything seemed to be fully stocked. The sales associate were very attentive when there would be something running low, they would restock ASAP! The only con though is that they don't sell the essentials brushes (the ones with the white handle). But, those can easily be found in Target.

Layout : 

The store is small. But, trust me you can spend hours in here! It's been done. Every section is organized from the eyes to face to lips to brushes. They even have chairs near the entrance for those poor souls that got dragged in their by their friends or girlfriends.
Service: 

The sales associate were helpful and kept asking customers if they needed help. I also saw a couple of people get a mini makeover with the help of the sales associate. Even though traffic can be high, the lines were really short. I believe the staff has done a great job.
Price: 

The most affordable makeup with good quality. They have items ranging from as low as a $1. A majority of their products are $3 or $6 and prices can be found right below the item. The mineral line and their bigger palettes are obviously are a bit more, but still worth it. With $25 you can walk out with a lot of items!

The flagship store is a must for any makeup junkie. The best thing about the store is being able to test out the things before making the final purchase. That is something you can't do at Target or online. Plus the price is unbeatable.
